Sometimes we teachers spend so much time getting our students through their textbooks, workbooks and worksheets that we don't take time out for "mind math." Giving students math problems they can solve without using paper not only helps with thinking skills and mathematics understanding but also with listening skills. Start with easy problems to give students confidence and then work up to more difficult ones. You'll be amazed at how much students enjoy "mind math."
