Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology
The project will, over the course of one year, develop models and curricula for integrating technology into teacher education experiences at the pre-service level. The project seeks to address the technology gap in teacher training, both at the university level, and for teacher candidates in K-12 degree programs. The project is based at San Francisco State University, in the Instructional Technologies Department.
The project's mission is to guide the integration of technology into pre-service teacher education in order to produce teachers who:
- Are competent in classroom uses of technology.
- Can take on the roles of instructional designer, learning facilitator, and classroom manager.
- Use the computer and the vast educational resources of the Internet as a tool.
- Teach, using inquiry, authentic problems, primary source material, and situations.
- Create instruction in which technology is an integral component.
- Have students who are active learners, competent in use of technology and able to assume the roles of researcher, writer, and communicator.
