We have invited Diane Howard, Ph.D. to share with us the processes and instructional value of autobiographical Writing & Performing. Dr. Howard is a professor of performance studies and communication at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Belton, TX. and the author of Autobiographical Writing & Performing. At Mary Hardin-Baylor, her Performance Studies students research, write, produce, and perform solo productions of great historic or contemporary characters which can be taken to theaters, schools, libraries, museums, and churches or can be performed for television, radio, film, or long-distance, live performance.
Dr. Howard informs us that such research, writing, and performing can be used in many academic subject areas to enhance cognitive and social learning. Whether you are a language arts instructor, science educator, or a teacher in almost any other discipline, you will find student projects in autobiographical writing and performing to be a valuable addition to your instructional methods.
