Welcome to Apple Learning Series Secondary Multimedia. This Apple Learning Professional Development™ online course has been designed specifically to help you use the Secondary Multimedia kit in your secondary and college classrooms.

This course:

  • introduces the contents of the Secondary Multimedia kit
  • shows you model student projects that demonstrate multimedia authoring in secondary and college classrooms
  • teaches you how to use the software tools in the kit to complete the student projects and enhance other classroom activities
  • help you learn how to use multimedia authoring software in the kit.
  • provides you with opportunities for collaboration

Throughout, the course is flexible. You can join the course at any time and you can do your work when and where it's convenient for you.

Collaborate:

Though this course is self-paced, you are not alone. Other educators who share your interests are taking this course at the same time. As you work through the course, you will find opportunities for collaboration with these educators as well as with a course mentor.

To find other educators, click the Course Forum link. There you will find a folder called "Who Are the People in Our Neighborhood?" Go to this folder now and post a short message introducing yourself. While you are there, read the postings of fellow educators to get an idea of who is taking the course with you.

Prerequisites

This is not a beginner's course, although extensive computer knowledge is not necessary. To be successful, you need to know how to use QuickTime to open and play movies, and use a digital camera to capture still images.

Tools

You need the following tools to participate in this course:
  • a computer with an Internet connection and with the software from the Secondary Multimedia kit installed
  • a printer
  • an up-to-date browser, with the QuickTime plug-in installed
