This exhibit is an interdisciplinary lesson based on the reading of William Shakespeare’s MacBeth. Three high school teachers from West High School in Manchester, NH collaborated to combine social studies, English and business classes to create a project reflecting the students separate knowledge of their disciplines. They are Ann Holmes, the English teacher, Karl Bickford, social studies, and Deb Stratton, the business teacher.
The English class was reading MacBeth and was comparing that period of time with the present. The social studies class was a geography class concerned with the location, climate, resources, economics and general information of Scotland then and now. The business class was learning how to use Powerpoint and use their technical skills to teach others in the group.
The groups were comprised of one business student, one social studies student, and two or three English students. The social studies and English students were responsible for the research as well as grammar, composition and spelling. Business students taught all to use Powerpoint to create their presentations.
