About the New Hampshire Learning Interchange Welcome to the NH Learning Interchange NHLI OBJECTIVES
Commitment to Professional Development
NHLI was developed for its potential to meet teacher preparation and in-service professional development needs at the local school level and within a statewide network of Educational Support Centers.
New Teachers
Teams of new and experienced educators spent countless hours developing content for the first NHLI exhibits. Project New Teachers (PT3-NH) supported the teams as they created exhibits of promising educational practices supported by technology tools. Initial exhibits show correlation of classroom practice to curriculum and technology standards and will become a rich resource for NH teacher preparation faculty to use as part of their course material.
High Quality Teachers
Implementing the No Child Left Behind Act requires that attention be paid to the number of teachers who are teaching in content areas for which they are not certified. Several statewide efforts address this need in various ways, one of which is to use the NHLI exhibits for content specific professional development activities.
Digital Resources
The NH Statewide Educational Technology Plan envisions statewide efforts to digitize rich education materials and make them available through the NHEON web portal. Not only can the NHLI share good teaching practice, it can also incorporate the variety and complexity of the state’s natural and historical resources. Imagine the power of a virtual field trip exhibit to Fort #4 or to the top of Mt Washington, with links to existing web resources and correlated teacher created lesson plans!
