The Changing Course of Summer Camps: Going with the Flow

STUDENT WORK

Original Projects, Unique Teams
divider
It is so surprising how students may be taught the exact same thing, but the work created is so unique. The camp ended with a final presentation of all of the teams’ projects. There were PowerPoint presentations with pictures doctored in PhotoShop, montages and parodies made with iMovie, and a Flash movie that captured the whole camp experience. The student work shown here is merely a sampling of the wonderful products put out by the teams. The originality of each project reflected the advisors’ confidence in their students and the freedom given that allowed their students to meet the team’s goals.

Montage of Camp Life

These students define the Gen Y program. Their video received laughs for its humorous showcase of the camp and the few technology problems they faced.

What Did You Like About Camp?

Roosevelt PowerPoint
This creative pair took pictures with their digital camera. They used Adobe PhotoShop to adjust the images and then created the PowerPoint. It’s a wonderful inside view of the camp attendees' opinions on what they liked, and what they thought could be improved about camp.

A Camp Cliffhanger

This movie is an absolute A+ in the parody department. This team performs their camp version of the movie 'Cliffhanger' and shows a promising future talent for some very skilled directors and actors.

The Camp Bunch

Camp Bunch
Yet another team of Gen Y students showed off their skills with this Flash movie. The team convinced some of the camp presenters and their advisor to let them take the headshots in varying poses. It was a complete surprise to see how just a few pictures morphed into such a clever final product.
