"One of the great joys of teaching is the opportunity to learn something new from your students each and every day." Student leadership programs such as Generation www.Y and others offer teachers the opportunity to grow their ability to integrate technology within the classroom in a non-threatening and manageable format as students lead the way. In 1999, the Kansas State Department of Education offered student leadership awards through the Technology Literacy Challenge Fund. Within six months, over 53 schools had active student leadership programs in place. Technology integration was under way and the success stories were powerful, but the State wanted to formally recognize the work of student and teacher teams. A technology leadership conference was held as a competition and showcase to capture their learning. Through the support of Southwestern Bell, Two Trees Technologies, Apple Computer, Inc., and other business partnerships, students were able to exhibit their instructional technology leadership in the areas of multimedia design, presentation skills, and Web design. The conference has experienced continued growth and support. This exhibit highlights the award-winning projects recognized at this year's conference. Watch, listen, and experience the excitement!
