Today's students are being bombarded by the often glitzy, dazzling and often overwhelming phenomenon called multi-media. This multi-sensory approach, used in almost all forms of communication, means educators must develop new teaching strategies to help students discern and evaluate the messages woven into just about everything considered "entertainment," commercials, movies, television, music videos, and even the news.
In this unit of practice students will learn how to analyze and evaluate multi-media by creating their own video productions. Using digital video cameras and video editing software, and weaving language arts with technology skills, students work in cooperative groups to produce a newsmagazine for their school.
